They originated in India but their name comes from the bright orange robes worn by the Mandarins of ancient Mandarin courts. Peel off the top and roll down the thin skin and the bite-sized sections will easily separate. Sweeter and less acidic than larger Oranges, Mandarins are a real treat to eat.
